Most firms we follow take UK traders: 99% of them list the United Kingdom as open.

For challenge fees, Credit/Debit Card, Crypto and PayPal are the routes these firms support most. We found no fee method specific to the United Kingdom.

Method: We keep every firm open to the United Kingdom and rank them on a United Kingdom score, which swaps the usual access component for a check of deposit and withdrawal methods that work for UK traders. No firm with an open warning makes the picks. We quote official list prices with no promo codes and add any fee you pay after passing.

Firm popularity: Monthly Google searches for the firm's name across all countries, from Ahrefs keyword data (sub-brands carry their parent company's number). It shows the firm is known and in real use rather than a fly-by-night, but tells you nothing about its rules or payouts.

Paying and withdrawing from the United Kingdom: local methods

None of these firms lists a payment method specific to the United Kingdom, so traders there mostly use Credit/Debit Card, Crypto and PayPal.

Only methods specific to the United Kingdom count here (Faster Payments and Open Banking). Global methods such as cards, crypto, e-wallets and international wires are left out of this table.

Converted at 0.75489 GBP to the dollar (ECB reference rate of September 29, 2026). Expect your bank to use a slightly different rate.

How to choose a funded account from the UK

89 of the 90 prop firms we track accept UK residents. FundingPips leads our UK table at 4.3/5. A median $100K forex challenge costs $569, roughly 430 GBP at our conversion rate of 0.75489 pounds to the dollar.

You also get to trade on the clock the currency market is built around. London opens at 08:00 your time, and the New York stock open follows at around 14:30. The most liquid overlap of the day therefore sits in your early afternoon, and the US stock session opens after lunch rather than at bedtime. You are rarely pushed into night shifts to pass a challenge.

Access is not the filter

With 1 of the 90 firms restricting the UK (the list: Axi Select), close to the whole market is open to you. Among accepting firms, 54 offer forex, 30 offer futures and 14 offer crypto, with plenty of overlap between them. So the question shifts from "Will they take me?" to "Whose rules suit the way I trade?"

What your pounds buy

The median one-time price of a forex challenge, pass fees included, is $99 (about 75 GBP) for a $10K account, $347 (262 GBP) for $50K and $569 (430 GBP) for $100K. Our sterling figures are conversions, so they drift with the exchange rate even when a firm's list price stands still.

To compare fairly, divide the fee by the account size and look at the cost per $10K. At the very bottom of the range, FundedHive sells a challenge for $9, a low-risk way to learn how a rulebook feels in practice. Two costs hide further down the page: 6% of forex challenges charge an activation fee once you pass, and 25% of futures offers bill monthly, so a slow evaluation costs more than the sticker suggests.

Paying in and cashing out

Getting money to a firm is straightforward: 84 take cards, 76 accept crypto and 56 take e-wallets, while no firm here takes a method specific to the United Kingdom for the fee. Now think about the other end of the journey, the evening a funded account shows a profit and you press the withdrawal button. Crypto withdrawals are offered by 67 firms, Rise by 54 and bank transfer by 43, with 54 paying on a cycle of a week or less. Favor firms whose payout methods you already use.

The rulebook, clause by clause

Every challenge is a simulated evaluation. You are paying for the chance to prove consistency under set rules, and those rules deserve a slower read than the price.

Start with drawdown. 61 firms offer a static limit that stays fixed to your starting balance; a trailing limit follows your equity upward and can close a winning account on a modest pullback. Next, the daily loss limit, which resets once a day at a time the firm sets, so work out when that is on a UK clock; 9% of forex challenges have no daily limit. Look for consistency rules as well, which cap how much of your profit can come from a single day.

Style permissions matter too: 63 firms allow expert advisors and 81 allow trading around news. The most common platforms are MT5 (49 firms), Match Trader (28 firms) and cTrader (27 firms). If you would rather skip the test, 60 firms offer instant funding.

How payouts are taxed depends on UK rules and your personal position; we are not tax advisers, so check before your first withdrawal. Our own starting points are FundingPips, FundedNext and The5ers, but the right firm is the one whose rulebook you can follow on an ordinary day.

Regulators and tax in the United Kingdom

Here is what regulators and the tax office in the United Kingdom have published. Most of it targets brokers: a prop firm challenge is a paid evaluation, not a trading account with a broker.

Regulators
Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
Retail forex and CFDs
Retail CFD and forex trading is legal but restricted: since August 1, 2019 FCA rules cap retail CFD leverage between 30:1 and 2:1, require margin close-out at 50% and negative balance protection. Source: fca.org.uk
Prop firm challenges
We found no rule or warning from FCA written specifically about prop firm challenges.
Tax
HMRC says retail CFD outcomes are charged under the capital gains regime in almost every case unless the profits are taxable as trading income. HMRC guidance does not specifically address prop firm payouts. Source: gov.uk
