Most firms we follow take Kenyan traders: 81% of them list Kenya as open.

For challenge fees, Credit/Debit Card, Crypto and PayPal are the routes these firms support most. A method specific to Kenya (M-Pesa, Airtel Money or Mobile Money) works for the fee at 3 firms.

Method: Every firm that does not mark Kenya as restricted, ranked on our Kenya score: the global formula with its country-access part replaced by how well deposit and payout methods suit Kenyan traders. No firm with an open warning makes the picks. We quote official list prices with no promo codes and add any fee you pay after passing.

Firm popularity: Monthly Google searches for the firm's name across all countries, from Ahrefs keyword data (sub-brands carry their parent company's number). It shows the firm is known and in real use rather than a fly-by-night, but tells you nothing about its rules or payouts.

Paying and withdrawing from Kenya: local methods

Not offered or not permitted in Kenya, so left out of the payment counts on this page: Apple Pay (support.apple.com) and Google Pay (support.google.com).

Only methods specific to Kenya count here (M-Pesa, Airtel Money and Mobile Money). Global methods such as cards, crypto, e-wallets and international wires are left out of this table.

Prices on this page are in US dollars (a few firms price in euros). We hold no reliable KES rate, so we do not convert them; your bank or card provider will apply its own rate.

What Kenyan traders should check before buying a challenge

73 of the 90 prop firms we track open their challenges to Kenyan residents. FundedNext sits first in our Kenyan ranking with 4.4/5. Crypto is an option for the fee at 66 of them, handy if you would rather not put it on a card. Everything below is about narrowing those firms to the one that fits how you actually trade.

How the money moves

Picture the two moments that matter: the fee leaving your account and, later, the first payout arriving. For paying in, 68 firms accept cards and 43 accept e-wallets alongside the crypto option, while 3 firms take M-Pesa, Airtel Money or Mobile Money for the fee. For getting paid, the options are crypto (59 firms), Rise (44) and bank transfer (35). 41 run payout cycles of a week or less, worth weighing if you plan regular withdrawals.

A practical habit: pay with a method you can also receive through. A firm that takes your fee in one channel and only pays out in another adds a step, and possibly a conversion, at exactly the moment you want your money to be simple.

All prices here are in US dollars. For forex challenges, pass fees included, a $10K account costs a median $99, a $50K one $349 and a $100K one $576. FundedHive holds the lowest price we have recorded, $9. The fairer comparison is price per $10K of account size, and 6% of forex challenges bill an activation fee after a successful challenge, so read the checkout page to the end.

Your trading day on East Africa Time

Kenya runs on EAT, UTC+3, and the clocks never change. London opens at around 10:00 in Nairobi during the European summer and 11:00 in winter; New York equities start trading around 16:30, or 17:30 in the northern winter. That puts both of the big sessions inside your afternoon and early evening, so you can trade the most active hours without staying up past midnight. Your daily loss limit, reset every trading day, will therefore usually be tested during the London and New York overlap. 10% of programs have no daily limit, so plan around one.

Where the shortlist gets thinner

Kenya is on the restricted list at 17 firms, Topstep, Lucid Trading and Apex Trader Funding among them. Of the firms still open to you, 51 sell forex challenges, 17 sell futures evaluations and 14 include crypto. If you trade futures, check the remaining options against your contracts before anything else. Note also that 24% of futures programs renew monthly instead of charging once.

After access and price, the rulebook decides whether you keep the account. 56 firms use a static drawdown, anchored at the balance you started with, which is more forgiving if you like to let winners breathe. A trailing drawdown follows your highest equity and can close an account after a profitable run followed by a modest pullback. Look for consistency rules too, which stop one exceptional day from making up too large a slice of your profit. 55 firms permit expert advisors, 64 allow trading through news, and the platforms that appear most are MT5 (46 firms), Match Trader (26 firms) and cTrader (25 firms). Instant funding, with no evaluation at all, is sold by 51 firms.

In our ranking, FundingPips and The5ers follow FundedNext. Test them in the table above against your own priorities.

A note on expectations

Every challenge is a simulated evaluation. The fee buys a test under fixed rules, not an investment and not trading capital. Tax on prop firm earnings is governed by Kenyan rules and your personal position. We do not give tax advice, so put the question to a qualified adviser before your first withdrawal.

Regulators and tax in Kenya

Here is what regulators and the tax office in Kenya have published. Most of it targets brokers: a prop firm challenge is a paid evaluation, not a trading account with a broker.
